Step 2: Measurements & Layoutīefore hanging your projector screen, you must measure your space and layout your screen on paper. Also, be sure that you have enough space for yourself and any helpers-you don’t want anyone to get hurt while installing your projector screen. You will need one or two people to help with installation, depending on how heavy your screen is and whether or not you have ceiling tiles blocking some of your views.īefore you start hanging it, make sure that nothing obstructs your access to where you want to hang it-no chairs, furniture, or anything else! If there is an obstruction, move it out of the way before starting. Make sure you have all your materials ready to go and within easy reach. Still, when you’re working with a tight budget, you may not be able to afford the luxury of hiring an installer to hang your screen.įortunately, the task isn’t as complicated as it might sound, and with just a few tools and the proper steps, you can have your screen ready in no time! In this post, we’ll take you through each step of the process with easy-to-follow instructions. Projector screens can add a touch of elegance to any home theatre or business presentation space. I still have something to complete the build, net surround to hide the clamps and bungees and install some putting cups. How far should the projector screen be from the ceiling? Now I hit from between 10 and 11 foot depending on ball placement and have had several balls hit the ceiling and wall just above the screen. So I had to move the XO further away from the screen and right up to the Optoma. This was where I messed up and didn't realize the shadow would be cast by the XO because of the height differences. I wanted to hit around 8 foot from the screen and mounted the XO before the GT1090 and so the XO hangs down from the ceiling to 9'10". My ceiling is just under 12ft and with the offset with the Optoma and the screen height, it sits roughly 7 inches off the ceiling so that I could keep the size image I wanted and keep the hitting distance from the screen within 12feet. I tried different levels and distances for sure and moved the XO back and forth and originally placed it 5 feet from the screen. If you can tell from the pic, there is a huge oval ring that goes around some fiber optic lighting that the previous home owner installed and I had to figure out how to get around that. Hope this helps and I think I could hang on either the XO or GT1090 and not worry about either coming downġ4MPH Hope these pics help. Then I attached a 19-1/2" 2圆 to Uneekor bracket using the 9 screws that they provided.Īttached the lower portion of a projector mount to 2圆 with 1 inch lag screws.Īttached upper portion of projector mount to ceiling with 3-1/2" lag screws.Īttached the upper portion of projector mount for the projector with the same 3-1/2" lag screws and then followed the normal directions attaching the projector. My joists were hung 24' on center and each 2x12 is 22-1/2" long. In the attic between the rafters I screwed in place a 2x12 on either side of the nearest joist where I figured the EYE XO and Projector would be mounted so I could be sure that I would have a solid foundation for them to hang from and not have to worry about finding a single rafter joist to use. Now my hitting area is around 11foot to the screen. I had planned on hitting from 8 foot to the screen but the XO cast a huge shadow due to the offset of the GT1090, so I had to move the XO just in front of the projector which is roughly 8 foot away from the screen for a 16x9 image. my ceilings are just under 12foot, so my XO hangs around 9'10' and my projector is around 10'8". I used the screws that came with the Uneekor to attach the mount to the wood. If so, any good recommendation on screws between the wood and the projector mount? Thanks!!! Awesome, so that was projector mount -> 2圆 -> EyeXO mount -> Eye XO.
