Will those secrets we whispered to the shooting stars come true? Will the whale sing a beautiful song to relieve our weariness? The clock is ticking, but where am I? What did you leave to me? ” This approach earned high praise from reviewers. The design of the double-sided auditorium allowed one section of the audience to watch the performance on stage while simultaneously observing the other section participating in the game. To underscore the audience's sense of presence, eight individuals were invited to partake in a game of musical chairs with the actors, allowing all participants, including bystanders, to experience the tricks and cruelty among the characters. In the theatrical adaptation of the work, entitled A Letter to My Boyfriend's Ex, three actors were tasked with playing eight different characters, while the mise en scène comprised a mere 10 chairs. The text itself is akin to a labyrinthine construct, deliberately confusing readers by blending elements of past love and present reality. The story takes the form of a letter from the female narrator, who regards her boyfriend's former lover as her "enemy", as she attempts to defend her own love, only to ultimately fail. This scenario served as the inspiration for A Letter to My Boyfriend's Ex, an adaptation of a renowned work by Taiwanese novelist Hu Shu Wen (胡淑雯). The quote "Maybe the purpose of this letter is to get your respect" was lifted from a letter written by the mistress to her boyfriend's former partner. ![]() Despite this, they felt compelled to persevere and move forward. As they walked through the rainy season, the love between the couple had already withered away.
